This project will bring the printmaking space into alignment with the recent Latrobe Valley Authority funded major facility redevelopment. (See Building Redevelopment 2019)
For this project, funding has been successfully sought from Regional Arts Fund to consult with art professionals in the field in the planning process, to plan, launch and deliver a technical advice and assistance program to tutors and printmakers; to develop, offer and launch a residency program and suite of masterclasses and to purchase equipment and source further funding for the renovation of space. Planning and fundraising continues over a 3 year period from 2020 to 2023. To date, plans have been developed and funding has been successfully sought from the Foundation for Regional and Rural Renewal (FRRR) for equipment and renovation works that include plumbing and specialist sinks, occupational Heath and safety equipment, policy and procedure development and renewed cabinetry and work surfaces. Funds are currently being sought for new flooring, the installation of skylights, ceiling and some wall insulation, draft proofing and heating and exhaust systems. Many hours of volunteer work from passionate members have also been a major contribution to the project. Although, allowances have been made for the inevitable Covid restrictions and interruptions and printmaking continues with work arounds in arcs community art space when possible, the Yinnar Press and working group are really looking forward to this wonderful project coming to full fruition in the coming months.
