Arc will open its newly renovated print studio and ceramics space. Come and visit and see the latest exhibitions. There will be refreshments, food and homemade cakes available all weekend. Arc will be hosting arc artists who are part of the Open Studios Latrobe on the weekend of the 21st and 22nd of October 2023.

The event begins with a free session in Screen printing with artist member Sharon Anderson in the Print room on Sunday 8th October. Come in and either print on bags that we we supply or bring your own or a t-shirt. Inks and screens are provided. The image is already selected and it promotes the Open Studios Latrobe at arc in Yinnar in 2023 and arc bags will be sold as merchandise up to and during the weekend event on 21st and 22nd of October.

On the weekend of event we have in house arc artists Mira Halpern Wilson, Juan Rodriguez Sandaval and Amanda Thompson in their own studios. We also have printmakers Kate Zizys, Lyndy Lord and Lis Scott in the Print Studio and Tutor artists Dragi Jankovic and Linda Huston in the ceramics studio.

The Artists

Mira Halpern Wilson

‘Mira is a potter and her inspiration is the fate of asylum seekers/refugees and expressing her emotions through clay. She mostly hand builds in clay while appreciating the necessity for wheel throwing skills. Mira’s studio is here at arc where she creates and teaches classes’.

" Juan Rodriguez Sandoval (he/him/his) is a Guatemalan-born Latin-Australian interdisciplinary artist based in Brayakaulung country, Gippsland. His practice explores and exposes the issues faced by displaced people, borders, and movements, with a focus on the environment. Juan works with earthly, bio-organic matter, and found materials, which he believes are living organisms with unique properties of geographic and historical significance. "

Amanda has a studio at the unique artist run space, arc Yinnar where she works with relief printing, woodcut, etchings and pencil drawing. She gains her inspiration from industrial landmarks unique to Latrobe Valley such as the briquette factory. See Amanda at work and see her impressive collection of artworks on display’.

‘Gippsland artists Kate Zizys, Elizabeth Scott and Lyndy Lord will host printmaking demonstrations in the ARC printroom, Yinnar. Visitors can view techniques incorporating etching and monoprint- ing, working with wood, metal, and paper to create the printed image. Finished prints by these artists will be on display and available for purchase.’

Ceramic Studio.

The ceramic studio will be open with Ceramicist Linda Huston and Master Potter and artist Dragi Jankovic in attendance over weekend. Come in and visit the studio and enquire about Saturday workshops with Linda and 6 week courses and a new 12 month course commencing in 2024 with Dragi Jankovic.
